About N-SPEC®

Originally developed by Coastal Chemical Company L.L.C.  (a subsidiary of the Brenntag group), N-SPEC® has been successfully applied since 1997 in cleaning crude oil and gas pipelines, flow lines and gas lift wells at ~400 companies worldwide. The N-SPEC® experts were the first to recognize "black powder" contaminants and developed a unique surfactant blend to remove these deposits.

In 2000, N-SPEC® was introduced in Europe. Building upon the breadth of experience of Brenntag North America, Brenntag Oil & Gas Europe has executed already more than 60 service jobs successfully at several major pipeline owners & operators in Europe.

N-SPEC and the environment

N-SPEC® 50(E), which is a solvent for the removal of paraffin and wax deposits, is successfully tested in Europe according official HOCNF (Harmonised Offshore Chemical Notification Format) standards for aquatic toxicity, biodegradation and bioaccumulation in marine environments. These tests are universally accepted in the North Sea countries and are recommended by the Ospar guidelines. Based on these positive test results, Scandinavian and UK authorities have approved these chemicals for offshore use.

Brenntag is constantly investing in R&D to increase the portfolio of environmentally friendly N-SPEC cleaning chemicals, to be used both onshore and offshore, for various applications.
